Politics in West Bengal is getting very intense rn . BJP leader Tapas Roy has made some big comments about Trinamool Congress, and honestly,it sounds like he's predicting a major storm.
This all started after Trinamool expelled two of its legislators,Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha . Following that,Tapas Roy made a social media post on June 2,where he hinted at what he called the "inevitable disintegration" of the party.
And he even drew a direct comparison to what happened in Maharashtra politics . He is basically suggesting that Trinamool Congress could face exactly same fate.
The whole theory is based on numbers . Roy noted that if a big group of the party's MLAs—something like 50 out of the current 80—decide to leave together, they might be able to avoid the anti-defection laws.
And tbh, this is where situation gets really serious . If that happens, they could go to the Assembly Speaker,Rathindra Bose, and present themselves as the real majority faction . That would directly undermine the power of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew,Abhishek Banerjee .
But the most shocking part is support for this idea . Reports say that 60 out of 80 Trinamool legislators were absent from a recent important meeting at Banerjee's residence . 60 is not a small number ah,it shows a huge rift inside the party.
Few things standing out clearly in this situation:
- BJP leader Tapas Roy is hinting at a major split in Trinamool, similar to Maharashtra .
- The math suggests around 50 MLAs could break away and challenge the leadership.
- A whopping 60 MLAs skipping a key meeting shows there is serious discontent already.
This is all happening at time when Mamata Banerjee is trying to get back on streets after the recent electoral defeat . This was her first public engagement since the loss, but the support from inside her own party seems very shaky .
And with all this infighting becoming so public, the whole thing feels very unstable . Roy's comments are just making the existing tensions worse, and now everyone is watching to see what happens next.
You really have to wonder if the party can survive this kind of internal pressure…
