Just read about another one of these honeytrap cases, this time from Jammu's Makwal village . It's getting really scary how easily our youth are getting caught in these things .
So,one youth has been arrested for his alleged involvement in spying for Pakistan's ISI . And main thing is,he was apparently caught in one of those honeytrap schemes online.
The Senior Superintendent of Police,Joginder Singh, confirmed everything . He said,"Whether it is Pakistan Army,ISI,or the entire ecosystem, their efforts have always been to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir." This is not some new thing ah,they have been trying for long time .
But the way they are doing it now is what's really worrying .
And tbh,it's all happening on social media . SSP Singh even said,"The online platforms are an easy access to influence the youth." These days, national borders don't mean anything online, anyone can reach anyone from anywhere .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- ISI is actively trying to recruit local youth through these tricks .
- Honeytrap schemes are being used more and more to exploit young people.
- Security agencies are keeping a close watch on all these activities.
The arrested youth's mother is completely shocked . She said her son spent a lot of time on his mobile device, but she was completely unaware of how he got involved with foreign agents or how he was allegedly sending sensitive information.
And this is not first time only . It reminds me of that other case from Pathankot where man named Baljit Singh was arrested for similar charges . He revealed he was directed by handlers based in Dubai and got ₹40,000 for his espionage activities.
It's good that security agencies are continually monitoring these activities and even trying to identify and counsel vulnerable individuals to stay away from such traps . But it feels like a huge task.
The investigation is still on to find others in this spy ring . But it just makes you wonder, with everyone on their phones all day,how can anyone even keep track of who is talking to whom… it's a bit of mess.
