This Ronisha Satti case is honestly disturbing on many levels because it is not just about one alleged suicide attempt,it is also about online harassment, police response and what happens when private relationship turns public mess .
Ronisha Satti,a social media influencer,is currently in hospital and receiving treatment after alleged suicide attempt . In statement to IANS,she openly criticised police for not acting on harassment she says she faced from her fiancé through fake social media account .
She said,"My condition is improving, but the emotional toll has been significant," and that one line itself says lot . Physical recovery may happen slowly, but mental damage from public humiliation and online targeting is not small thing ah.
And this whole matter has apparently become public in Jammu, which makes situation even more painful for her family also . Satti said,"My 12-year-old cousin is being targeted online, and it’s devastating," and honestly, bringing child into online abuse is where things become completely ugly .
Her engagement was with Prashant Sharma, and according to her,the relationship had started falling apart. She said,"We were set to marry, but like many couples,we had our disputes. However, this should not have escalated to legal action or police involvement without family discussions first."
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Ronisha Satti says police did not respond effectively despite repeated pleas .
- She says fake profiles and online abuse can destroy anyone’s reputation.
- She wants police accountability in protecting victims of online harassment.
And tbh, this is where bigger question comes in . If someone is saying private photos and videos with Sharma were shared online, and police did not intervene at that time, then what option is left for victim before damage becomes permanent?
She also said,"The damage to my reputation is irreversible, and I sought police help, yet I was met with silence," and later revealed,"I endured this torment for a month, and when I could no longer cope,I attempted to end my life," . That is not just frustration,it sounds like someone feeling completely cornered .
Satti has said court will ultimately decide truth of her allegations, but her question is still hanging heavy:"Where do girls turn for help if the police remain unresponsive?" And maybe that is real uncomfortable part here… if system stays silent till someone breaks, then who is actually supposed to answer?
