When students are already stressed about exams and future, then seeing senior Congress leaders like Digvijaya Singh being detained during protest in Bhopal makes whole matter feel even more heated.
Congress and its student wing,National Students’ Union of India (NSUI),had organized protest march over alleged NEET paper leak and other irregularities in competitive examinations . Their main point was simple only: government must answer for what is happening with exam process .
The march started from Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters and leaders were trying to move towards Chief Minister's residence . But police had already put barricades and stopped them before they could go ahead . After that, brief scuffle happened and several leaders and party workers were detained.
Among those detained were Digvijaya Singh, former ministers P.C. Sharma,Rajkumar Patel, and State Congress President Jitu Patwari . They were taken to Ratibad police station, with police calling it preventive action . Later in day,all detained leaders were released .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Congress protested against alleged NEET paper leak and other examination irregularities .
- Digvijaya Singh demanded resignation of Union Education Minister over moral responsibility .
- Police stopped march towards Chief Minister's residence and detained several leaders.
Before march,Digvijaya Singh attacked Central Government and said repeated paper leaks show failure to protect examination system . And tbh, when exams are linked to future of lakhs of young people, this is not small thing ah.
He also said future of countless students is at stake and government cannot escape responsibility . His statement was direct: "Tampering with the future of students will not be tolerated at any cost. The youth of this country deserve a fair and transparent system."
And this is where anger of students and parents becomes understandable . If paper leak doubts keep coming again and again, then trust in exams starts breaking slowly . Competitive exams already bring pressure, fees, coaching, years of preparation… then irregularities make everything feel unfair.
Congress has said it will continue agitation until justice is served for affected students and has demanded thorough investigation along with strict action against those responsible . Police may say detentions were preventive, but issue outside barricades is much bigger .
At same time, question still stays hanging there — if students cannot fully trust exam system, then who is actually responsible for fixing this mess…
