This Eid al-Adha message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi felt like one of those simple festival posts, but at same time,it carried larger reminder about brotherhood and peace in society .
On May 28,Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent warm Eid al-Adha greetings to people of India . In his post on X,he wrote,"Eid ul-Adha greetings! May this occasion deepen the spirit of brotherhood and happiness in our society. Praying for everyone's success and good health."
And honestly, during big festivals like this, these words do matter because millions of people are celebrating with families, prayers and community gatherings all around country .
Eid al-Adha,also referred to as Bakrid ,was celebrated across India with religious fervor and enthusiasm . From early morning, devotees gathered at mosques and Eidgahs for special prayers, marking one of most significant festivals in Islam.
Large congregations were seen in different cities, with people wearing traditional attire, meeting relatives and friends, exchanging greetings and sharing festive meals . That whole atmosphere of prayer, food, charity and togetherness is what makes festival feel so meaningful .
Few things stood out clearly during celebrations:
- Communal harmony emphasized as worshippers highlighted festival's message of unity
- Security measures implemented as authorities ensured peaceful celebrations across cities
- Acts of charity prevalent as many extended help to underprivileged during festivities
And tbh,the charity part is not small thing ah . Worshippers said Eid al-Adha carries strong message of compassion, sacrifice and charity . Festival commemorates unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s will.
It also becomes reminder of gratitude, forgiveness and helping those in need . In daily life people forget these values very easily, but festivals bring them back in front of everyone again .
While most of India celebrated Bakrid on May 28,some regions, such as parts of Jammu and Kashmir, observed festival day earlier because of lunar calendar variations . Like other Islamic festivals, date of Eid al-Adha is decided by sighting of crescent moon,so small differences in celebration dates happen across country.
Modi’s wishes and overall spirit of festival again point toward unity and goodwill among communities . But question is,after festival prayers and greetings are over, how much of that brotherhood actually stays in everyday life…
