On May 30 , 2026,Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said he felt proud of Indian Hajj Mission’s recent achievements after it got recognition for management of Hajj 2026 . This year’s pilgrimage started on April 18 and over 1.75 lakh pilgrims went for their spiritual journey.
And when lakhs of people are travelling, that too for such emotional and religious purpose, even small mistake can become big headache . So if coordination actually worked smoothly,it deserves some credit also .
Rijiju said success came because Ministry of Minority Affairs,Hajj Committee of India and Indian Hajj Mission worked together properly . Indian Hajj Mission was led by Indian Ambassador in Saudi Arabia and Consul General in Jeddah,so clearly this was not just one department doing everything alone.
Few things standing out in this update:
- Hajj Suvidha App and Smart Wristbands were used to improve pilgrim experience.
- Work with state governments and Saudi authorities helped in smoother logistics .
- Insurance coverage was expanded to ₹6.25 lakh for health and financial security .
But tbh, technology in Hajj management is useful only if it works on ground when pilgrims are tired, confused or facing language issues . App and wristband sound good, but real test is always crowd, time, heat and emergency moments.
Government also said it had improved healthcare facilities,real-time monitoring and faster grievance redressal mechanisms . With 17 embarkation points across cities like Delhi ,Mumbai ,and Kolkata,it seems effort was to make travel more accessible for people from different regions .
Rijiju also thanked Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its unwavering support and excellent arrangements . That part matters because Hajj is not something India can manage alone outside its borders, coordination with Saudi side is everything only .
And honestly,if all this made journey easier for pilgrims, then awards are nice, but bigger thing is whether ordinary pilgrims actually felt less stress during whole process…
