So this update from Rajasthan does feel like something people will notice, even if many will still ask what happens on ground in every single case.
According to Minister of State for Home,Jawahar Singh Bedham, average investigation period for rape cases has come down from 107 days in 2023 to just 42 days as of March 2026 . That is not small thing ah,because in such sensitive cases, months of waiting can break people mentally.
But numbers alone never tell full story . Disposal rate has also gone up from approximately 55% in 2023 to over 85% by early 2026,which officials are presenting as sign that cases are being resolved faster than before.
Bedham also said that "ensuring time-bound justice has become a key priority for the administration," and honestly, this is where expectation also increases . Once government says this openly, people will naturally expect police stations, courts and local officials to follow same seriousness.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Average investigation time for rape cases reduced from 107 days in 2023 to 42 days as of March 2026.
- Disposal rate rose from approximately 55% in 2023 to over 85% by early 2026 .
- Rajasthan is also reporting nearly 9.94% reduction in violence against women cases between 2023 and 2025.
Officials are linking this progress to policy reforms, regular monitoring and changes inside police system . Under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, periodic crime review meetings and stricter accountability measures have reportedly pushed police units to work with more result-focused approach.
And tbh, this part matters a lot . In crimes involving women and children, how police speak, how fast medical and legal steps happen, how family is treated… all of it decides whether victim feels supported or completely abandoned.
State has also reported more than 21% drop in adult rape cases, along with awareness campaigns, women's safety programs and community engagement . These things sound good on paper, but real test is always at thana level, where first complaint is made and first response happens .
So yes,Rajasthan's numbers look better right now,and faster investigation in rape and POCSO cases is definitely something worth watching . But question still stays same only, whether this speed and sensitivity reaches every victim equally, not just in reports…
