This Srinagar drug crackdown news is not small thing ah,because police are now not just arresting people but going directly after properties and money trail . And honestly, that changes pressure completely.
Srinagar Police have intensified action against drug trafficking by attaching properties worth around ₹2 crore belonging to various drug peddlers . This is being done as part of Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, which is aimed at removing narcotics from society.
And this part is important because drug networks usually survive on money, property and local support systems . So when police start hitting financial assets,it sends different kind of message.
In first case, authorities confiscated double-storey house and land worth approximately ₹1.5 crore belonging to Mudasir Ahmad Pir,a resident of Firdous Colony,Bemina . These actions were carried out under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act,after validation from Competent Authority,SAFEMA,under Ministry of Finance.
Few key facts standing out here:
- Property seized in Bemina includes residential house and land worth ₹1.5 crore .
- Second property attached in Shopian is valued at ₹22.35 lakh and linked to Gh Rasool Dar.
- Public has been urged to report drug activities as Srinagar Police seeks community support in combating drug trafficking.
In another case, residential property worth approximately ₹50 lakh belonging to Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja from Kupwara was also seized . So this is not one isolated attachment only, police are clearly widening action across different links.
And tbh, this kind of move shows police are trying to break financial backbone of drug trafficking networks, not just catch people after damage is already done . Because if money keeps flowing, network also keeps finding new faces .
At same time, police again stressed community engagement and asked citizens to report suspicious narcotics-related activity . That part matters too, because without local information, these networks often stay hidden in plain sight .
But bigger question is still there . Will attaching properties actually scare drug peddlers enough,or will they simply shift methods and keep operating quietly in another form…
