Two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers getting suspended over serious allegations of corruption and money laundering naturally raises lot of eyebrows, especially when government contracts and tender manipulation are involved .
Bihar government has suspended Yogesh Kumar Sagar, currently Director of the Social Welfare Department, and Abhilasha Kumari Sharma,Director of the Jeevika project . Both are now under scrutiny after investigations by Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Special Vigilance Unit (SVU).
The whole matter is connected to contractor Rishu Shree, whose recent arrest has reportedly opened up bigger network allegedly involved in corrupt practices related to government contracts . And honestly, this is where case starts looking much wider than just one contractor .
Investigations are focused on claims of tender manipulation linked to Rishu Shree . ED inquiry reportedly found that contractor had built significant influence inside government circles, and this influence was allegedly helped through collusion with some officials, including suspended IAS officers.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Allegations point to possible collusion between officers and contractor Rishu Shree.
- Reports suggest expensive gifts and hospitality were provided to people connected to officers .
- Probe is now looking into financial records, property documents, overseas travel and real estate transactions.
And tbh, when overseas travel documents and real estate transactions enter picture,it stops sounding like ordinary file-level irregularity . Sources familiar with investigation have said some assets are reportedly valued in several crores of rupees.
This is why suspension move feels like damage-control also . Findings have created serious concern inside administrative and political circles in Bihar, and government has taken quick disciplinary action for now.
But suspension is only first step, not full answer . Officials have indicated that further actions may follow depending on evidence collected,so pressure is clearly still building rn.
And bigger question remains same… if one contractor could allegedly create this kind of influence around government contracts, how deep does this network actually go…
