This new claim from Madhya Pradesh is honestly not small thing ah,because it is directly about voter ID cards and Election Commission of India process . Congress Party spokesperson Mithun Ahirwar has now said he got two new voter ID cards in his own name, and that too after Special Intensive Revision process.
And during press conference on May 30,2026,Ahirwar alleged serious irregularities in ECI's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process . This SIR process had started in November 2025 as part of nationwide voter roll verification exercise and final electoral roll was published in February 2026.
But his question is simple only . If this whole verification was done so carefully, how did one person end up with two fresh voter ID cards?
Ahirwar said SIR was supposed to involve Booth Level Officers (BLOs) going door-to-door and verifying voters . But according to him,his own case shows something went wrong somewhere . He said,"During the previous SIR process,my name was removed from the voter list, and only after media attention did the ECI act."
And instead of just restoring his name,he claims he received two new voter ID cards, both carrying identical personal details but different ID numbers . That is exactly where doubt starts becoming serious .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Duplicate voter IDs issued — Ahirwar questions how two IDs could be generated for one individual.
- Credibility of ECI at stake — Allegations raise doubts on the verification process's integrity.
- Call for inquiry — Ahirwar demands an investigation into possible duplicate voters.
He also asked one very direct question:"If BLOs were truly conducting door-to-door checks, how did two separate Voter IDs get issued to me?" And tbh, that question will not be easy to brush aside politically, especially when voter rolls are already sensitive issue before elections .
Ahirwar further challenged earlier ECI statements which suggested deleted voters could still vote with old IDs . He wondered if he could now cast votes using all three cards—his old one and two new ones . That line itself shows why this matter can become much bigger than one individual case.
The bigger concern he is raising is about possible duplicate voter entries and deletion of valid names during SIR process . He has called for thorough and impartial inquiry into what happened, and whether similar cases may exist across Madhya Pradesh.
And with upcoming elections getting closer, this type of allegation puts ECI under sharp public questioning . Because if one spokesperson can say he got three possible voting documents in his name, people will naturally ask what else is hiding inside voter rolls…
