Honestly,this is not just routine party reshuffle kind of thing,especially with 2027 Assembly elections slowly coming closer.
Kewal Singh Dhillon is not new face in Punjab politics . He is seasoned politician,former Congress legislator from Barnala and someone known for close ties with former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh . So BJP clearly seems to be betting on experience plus local equations here.
But real message looks deeper than just changing one leader . Dhillon is Jat Sikh,and in Punjab politics,that identity matters ah . Political analysts are seeing this as BJP trying to connect better with Sikh community in state where Sikh voters form big part of electorate .
Under Sunil Jakhar,who comes from Hindu background,party apparently did not get results it wanted . So this shift from Jakhar to Dhillon feels like BJP accepting that Punjab needs different political language,not same formula everywhere.

Still,BJP seems to be looking at his old Congress network,his Barnala base and his links with Capt Amarinder Singh as useful assets . In Punjab,personal connect and community trust can sometimes matter more than big speeches from Delhi.
Sunil Jakhar had been leading BJP in Punjab since July 2023 . Reports say he was facing internal dissatisfaction and had even hinted at stepping down before official announcement came . So maybe this change was building for some time behind scenes.
Now question is whether Dhillon can actually change BJP’s image in Punjab or this becomes one more leadership experiment before election season . Party wants united front and stronger reach among Sikh voters,but Punjab politics is never simple…
And with 2027 still ahead,real test will be whether voters see this as genuine shift or just election calculation…
