Cyber fraud in India has honestly reached that point where even one random call or legal-looking message can scare people badly . And now Rajasthan Police launching AI-driven chatbot Abhay feels like response to that panic which many people are already facing .
This comes at time when "digital arrest" scams and fake legal notices in name of police or other law enforcement agencies are increasing . Fraudsters know exactly how to use fear, especially when victim is elderly, woman,or someone not very comfortable with online systems.
V.K . Singh, the Additional Director General of Police for Cyber Crime, said this chatbot is meant to help citizens verify suspicious communication before reacting . And honestly, this is needed because many people still freeze when someone says “police case” or “court notice” on call.
Abhay stands for Artificial Intelligence Based Helpful Assistant for You . It works 24/7 and can give help in multiple languages, including Hindi and English . That part matters because cyber fraud does not happen only with tech-savvy people in cities.
The idea is simple only. If someone gets notice or threat through mobile, email,or social media, they can use chatbot to check if it looks genuine or fake . Instead of panicking and sending money, person gets some immediate direction.
Few things this chatbot is expected to do:
- Give real-time updates on latest cyber fraud methods.
- Provide step-by-step guidance if user suspects fraud.
- Redirect serious cases to official cyber complaint portal.
And tbh, this fake-police-fake-court scam is especially nasty because it attacks fear first . Many victims are not even thinking clearly by time fraudster starts demanding money. They are just trying to “settle” issue quickly and quietly.
Officials said main aim is to stop panic among citizens . Singh also urged people not to react hastily to alarming messages or calls, and instead use chatbot for verification. People have also been asked to report suspicious activity to National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or contact nearest cyber police station.
But at same time, one chatbot cannot fix everything ah . People still need digital awareness, patience, and habit of verifying before trusting any scary message. Rajasthan Police has made one useful tool here, but whether scared citizens will actually use it at right moment… that is real question now…
