This Garhwa district,Jharkhand case is honestly disturbing on another level because it is about father allegedly killing his own 17-year-old daughter,Aakriti Kumari, just because she refused arranged marriage . Like how does disagreement inside home reach this point ah?
Police have arrested Nirmal Singh for alleged murder of Aakriti Kumari . As per police,he had planned marriage for her,but she rejected it. That refusal reportedly made him angry and then situation turned horrifying inside their own house.
According to police,Nirmal Singh allegedly strangled Aakriti while she was asleep . After that,he reportedly fled from scene and locked house behind him. And this part is really chilling because nobody even knew immediately what had happened inside .
Authorities were alerted on May 19 after foul odor started coming from Singh’s residence in Parti Kushwani village . Police reached there with Aakriti's brother,Avinash Kumar Singh, and broke into locked house. Inside, they found Aakriti's lifeless body.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Aakriti Kumari was 17-year-old and had reportedly rejected arranged marriage planned by Nirmal Singh.
- Body was discovered on May 19 after foul smell came from locked house in Parti Kushwani village.
- Nirmal Singh was arrested on May 27 near Bajarmerwa in Uttar Pradesh after brief chase .
And after body was found, local police under Sub-Divisional Police Officer Satyendra Narayan Singh started investigation and formed special team to trace him. Through technical analysis and intelligence gathering, they found that Singh had gone towards Rajasthan.
Police said he was hiding in Rajasthan but was planning to return to Garhwa to seek bail . Then on May 27,they got tip-off that he was moving through Kon area of Uttar Pradesh. Officers set up operation near Bajarmerwa and intercepted him.
When police confronted him,he allegedly tried to run,but was caught after brief chase. During interrogation,he confessed to crime and said he was angry because Aakriti refused to marry in Rajasthan, where he worked .
And tbh, this is what makes whole thing even more painful . A 17-year-old girl saying no to marriage should not become death sentence inside her own home . But in some families, control is treated like honour, anger is treated like authority, and daughter’s choice becomes biggest problem…
How many more such cases are sitting quietly behind locked doors before smell, noise or suspicion finally brings police there…
