This Amit Shah statement has again pushed illegal infiltration issue into full political heat . And honestly, this is one of those topics where security,economy,vote-bank politics and border pressure all get mixed very fast.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently announced that individuals who voluntarily leave India will not face legal repercussions from the West Bengal government . BJP leaders have welcomed this, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying illegal infiltration has badly affected nation’s economy.
At public event in Gandhinagar,Shah said BJP government in West Bengal has moved quickly on border-related issues . He spoke about detention centers and land transfers for border fencing, which BJP is now presenting as proof that they are serious on this matter.
And this is where political messaging becomes very clear ah.
BJP Member of Parliament Radhamohan Singh directly spoke about economic impact and said,"They should definitely leave the country." Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav also said that under Shah's leadership,BJP is taking illegal infiltration from Bangladesh border very seriously .
Few things standing out from whole statement:
- Amit Shah said individuals who voluntarily leave India will not face legal repercussions from West Bengal government.
- BJP leaders said illegal infiltration is hurting India's economy and social fabric.
- Shah claimed BJP governs 80% of country's geographical area.
Ram Kripal Yadav also attacked previous Trinamool Congress government, alleging it gave safe space to infiltrators . His claim was that such people unfairly access resources meant for Indian citizens, and that is not small thing politically.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo added that party practices what it preaches . He pointed to quick transfer of land to Border Security Force (BSF) for border fencing, calling it promise fulfilled from West Bengal Assembly campaign . He also warned that if illegal infiltrators do not return voluntarily, they may face hefty fines and imprisonment .
But matter is not staying limited to West Bengal only . BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya raised Karnataka angle too, urging Home Minister to recognise that state has also become refuge for Bangladeshi infiltrators . He alleged many were registered under previous Congress government, got Aadhar cards and were added to voter lists .
And now bigger question is how far this issue will go from speeches to actual policy on border security and immigration in India… because once voter lists,Aadhar cards and detention centers enter same debate, things rarely stay simple…
