This is actually getting very worrying now . Another youth, this time from Jammu's Makwal village, has been arrested for spying for Pakistan's ISI.
And it seems social media is becoming the main weapon in these situations . The police themselves are saying this is how young people are being targeted in conflict areas like Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh explained how the whole ecosystem of Pakistan Army and ISI is working to disturb peace . He specifically mentioned they are using things like honeytraps and even drug-related tactics to trap people. This is not small thing ah .
And honestly, this is where things get really scary for me . SSP Singh pointed out that the digital world has removed all borders . Social media is now a direct tool for influencing vulnerable youth who are just sitting at home on their phones .
He did say that maybe only tiny fraction, like 0.01%,of young people fall for these schemes . But security agencies are watching these activities very closely to find and counsel anyone who gets affected .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- accused’s mother is in complete shock over how her son got involved .
- This is third espionage case like this in just recent weeks,so it's a trend .
- These spy operations are being handled from abroad, including places like Dubai.
But the family part is just heartbreaking . The boy's mother said she had no idea about his activities at all, even though she saw him using his mobile devices a lot . What can a parent even do rn.
This isn't isolated incident either . It follows another arrest in Pathankot for similar charges . And that case also revealed handlers operating from other countries .
Authorities say they are focusing on counseling and rehabilitation for youth who get influenced by this stuff, which is good step I guess .
Still, you have to wonder how to even stop this . The threat is not on the border,it's inside your phone,on your social media feed… how do you even protect your kids from that…
