So,I was just reading about this event in Delhi where BJP leaders celebrated Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar's 301st birth anniversary . And honestly,it's always interesting to see how historical figures are remembered in today's political world.
The event was on June 2,and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra led whole thing . He garlanded her portrait and gave a speech about her governance model, which he said was super sensitive to what people needed and was all about accountability.
He also emphasized that her life is perfect example of Indian culture, women's empowerment, and public service . Which is true ah,she took over governance during a really chaotic time and still managed to set up a welfare-oriented system.
And he specifically mentioned her contributions to preserving cultural and religious sites across India, including big ones like Kashi and Somnath . He said her efforts continue to inspire everyone even today .
Other leaders were there too . Union Minister S.P. Singh Baghel was there and he said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation is finally recognizing the contributions of great people like Holkar who shaped the country. He basically encouraged everyone to follow her principles for nation's development.
Sangam Lal Gupta, who is BJP OBC Morcha National General Secretary, also paid tribute . He talked about her compassionate governance and how it’s still so relevant.
Couple of things that stood out for me:
- Malhotra called for drawing inspiration from Holkar’s ideals in contemporary governance.
- Her major contributions to preserving religious sites like Kashi and Somnath were highlighted.
- Her life was presented as a model for promoting women’s dignity and social service.
And honestly, this is where things get interesting . You see these historical figures being celebrated, and their ideals of good governance and service are brought up.
Gupta also said her legacy shows how you can get positive social change with dedication . He said her ideals are guiding the nation towards being self-reliant and harmonious.
It’s good to see such powerful woman from history being remembered and her work being discussed . But you can’t help but notice how it all ties into the current political narrative too… makes you think about the connections being made...
