Key Takeaways

  • CBSE portal under cyberattack but remains operational
  • Over 16,000 students submitted applications successfully
  • Aadhaar authentication implemented for security

Just when you think all the exam stress is over for students, something like this happens . The CBSE re-evaluation portal faced cyberattacks on its very first day of operation, which is honestly, just another headache for students.

And this was not small attack ah. According to CBSE,it was big denial-of-service (DoS) attack . They got something like 1.5 million hits in just two minutes . That's a crazy amount of traffic to handle.

But surprisingly, the board said portal remained fully functional despite all this chaos . They even said that over 16,000 students successfully submitted their applications by 3 PM on June 2 only. So I guess their tech team was prepared for something like this.

And honestly,it’s good to hear they managed situation without shutting everything down.

CBSE even released a statement on this. They said, "Our teams remain vigilant and responsive to ensure our dearest students are facilitated in all ways possible."

Few things to note from this whole incident:

  • The re-evaluation portal was targeted by a large-scale DoS attack.
  • The portal will remain open until midnight on June 6 for eligible students.
  • New security measures include mandatory Aadhaar authentication for students .

And this Aadhaar verification thing is new . Apparently it's to make sure only genuine students are accessing the portal and to increase security. They also clarified that only students who already got their scanned answer sheets can even apply for this re-evaluation.

This whole thing just shows how vulnerable our education systems are becoming as everything moves online . From admissions to exams to re-evaluation,everything is on internet and it's a huge target for hackers.

It’s good that CBSE handled it well this time . But it makes you think about how safe student data really is… and what could happen if an attack like this succeeds during actual exam time…
