So,some major news is coming from Washington about Israel and Lebanon negotiations . And honestly,it feels like something big might actually be happening this time.
A new round of direct talks started between Israel and Lebanon on June 2,2026 . This is all happening after U.S. President Donald Trump said he has gotten agreements from both Israel and Hezbollah to calm down the whole situation in the region .
And this is part that is making everyone watch closely. Lebanese officials have confirmed that Hezbollah has accepted a U.S . proposal for a "mutual cessation of attacks" with Israel. This is a big deal ah,if it actually holds .
The whole thing apparently came together after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun had phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio . The U.S. proposal is basically that Israeli military operations in southern Beirut would stop, and in return,Hezbollah would stop its attacks on Israel. Simple exchange .
And tbh, this is where things get interesting .
President Trump later told Lebanon's ambassador to the U.S.,Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, that he had gotten Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approval for ceasefire proposal only . After that,President Aoun passed message on to Hezbollah. Seems like a lot of back-channel work was going on.
Few things standing out clearly right now:
- U.S. is heavily involved with Trump administration pushing talks.
- Hezbollah agreeing to stop attacks if Israel also stops .
- Whole region's security could change if this works out.
Earlier,Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri had also told the Trump administration that Hezbollah is prepared for an immediate and complete ceasefire,so maybe the groundwork for this was being laid for some time .
These talks are happening at very critical time, with tensions so high and everyone looking for some kind of diplomatic solution .
Negotiations are expected to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday . Everyone is watching this very closely, but can this peace actually last… or is it just another temporary pause…
