So Trump has signed another big executive order on AI,and honestly, this one is a lot to take in . All about using AI to boost cybersecurity .
This happened on June 2, 2026 . The whole point is to use artificial intelligence to protect federal government systems and important infrastructure from cyber attacks, which are getting worse day by day.
And White House gave this very official sounding statement about it,saying the goal is to "advance American artificial intelligence innovation to strengthen America's cybersecurity, protect critical infrastructure, and ensure the United States remains global leader in AI innovation." Big words ah.
The order basically sets up a few major things .
- Establishment of AI cybersecurity clearinghouse – This is to work with AI companies to find security holes.
- Funding for advanced AI technologies – Government will push more money into AI security stuff.
- Classified benchmarking for AI models – A new system to test AI models for their cyber skills before they are released.
And this classified benchmarking part is what's catching my eye . It's a new framework for testing these powerful AI models, but in a classified way .
The idea is that AI companies will voluntarily work with government, giving them early access to their new AI systems . This is so government can check for security problems before tech goes out to everyone else. Sounds good on paper, but who knows how it will work in reality.
But not everyone is happy about this whole thing . Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner has already come out with criticism .
He basically said administration is just bringing back old ideas that were already dropped before . A rehash of earlier proposals,he called it. But tbh,he also said there were some good parts, like the voluntary testing of AI and better information-sharing protocols . So even he is giving mixed signals.
So it’s not some clear win or loss, everyone is seeing different things in same order.
It just feels like another move in this big global tech race . Everyone wants to be leader in AI,and security is becoming a huge part of that fight. But will this order really make things safer,or is it just more politics playing out with our tech…
