This statement from General Upendra Dwivedi feels like one of those moments where you realise things may look calm from outside, but military side is clearly not taking any chance . And honestly, when Army Chief talks about preparing for "Operation Sindoor 2.0",people will obviously listen more carefully.
General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff, was speaking to media on May 30 during Passing Out Parade of 150th Course at the National Defence Academy in Pune . His message was pretty direct: "Operation Sindoor is still continuing. There is a temporary cessation of hostilities... we are preparing well for 'Operation Sindoor 2.0' if it takes place."
And this line says a lot ah . It means even if firing or direct conflict has paused for now,Indian Armed Forces are still staying ready in case situation changes again.
He also spoke about need for better coordination among Army,Navy and Air Force because future wars may not remain limited to borders only . Space, cyber and cognitive warfare are now becoming part of same fight, and that is honestly worrying in its own way.
Few things standing out from his remarks:
- Military is adapting to new threats from space and cyber domains.
- Information warfare and public trust are being seen as important during conflicts.
- Future-ready force means more technology, better coordination and joint operations.
But what really stayed with me was his point about how battlefield has changed completely . General Dwivedi said,"The battlefield has become highly transparent, with every movement visible to adversaries," and that line is not small thing . It means even one wrong movement, one careless signal, one exposed plan can create serious risk.
He also mentioned that warfare now runs 24/7,which means there is hardly any real pause anymore . Not just soldiers on ground, but people handling data, networks, communications and perception are also part of this new type of conflict .
And then there is younger generation of officers and soldiers . General Dwivedi expressed confidence that they will help drive this change and keep Indian Army ready across multiple domains in coming years .
Still, this whole "Operation Sindoor 2.0" mention leaves one uncomfortable question hanging… if preparation is already being spoken about so openly, how close are things actually behind scenes…
