This cash seizure from Motihari honestly feels like one of those late-night checks where police probably expected routine checking, but then suddenly whole thing became much bigger . ₹24.91 lakh in one white car is not small thing ah.
The incident happened late at night in Turkauliya area of Motihari,East Champaran district . Police were doing vehicle inspection at Nimuiya Chowk through officers from Turkauliya Police Station when this white car came from Muzaffarpur direction .
And that is where suspicion started . Occupants of car reportedly could not give proper documents or clear explanation about huge cash being carried inside vehicle.
When police searched car properly, they found Indian currency totaling ₹24,91,300 . Just imagine standing at checkpoint at night and suddenly finding that much cash in one vehicle . Obviously officers got alert immediately .
Police then arrested four people identified as Krishna Sahani,Subhash Kumar,Dipesh Kumar Yadav, and Prajjwal Sahani . Krishna Sahani is from Laxmipur under Adapur police station jurisdiction, while Subhash Kumar is from Katkenwa in Nakardei region.
Dipesh Kumar Yadav and Prajjwal Sahani are from Ramnagar in Nepal's Bara district, under Simraungadh police station . And because two persons are from Nepal side, this case has now naturally moved into more serious angle around hawala and possible cross-border links .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- ₹24.91 lakh cash was recovered from white car during vehicle checks.
- Two arrested persons are from Nepal's Bara district, raising hawala investigation angle.
- Police say none of them could explain source or destination of money properly .
According to East Champaran police statement, none of arrested individuals could convincingly explain where money came from or where it was going . They also failed to show supporting documents for cash,so police formally arrested them and seized vehicle also .
And tbh, this is where matter becomes more uncomfortable . Cash movement near Indo-Nepal border is always sensitive because even one vehicle can be part of much bigger chain, whether hawala,cross-border smuggling activities or something else.
Operation was led by Sub-Inspector Sampat Kumar, along with officers Ramsewak Singh and Kanhaiyalal, and other police personnel . Their action caught this case at checkpoint itself, but now real question is who sent this money and who was supposed to receive it…
