During a ceremony on May 28,2026 ,Union Home Minister Amit Shah was speaking at inauguration of new hostel facilities at Mata Umiya Dham in Ahmedabad . His main point was that Patidar community’s growth after Independence is not some small story ah,it deserves serious academic work.
He said,"In the 75 years after Independence,the progress made by the Patidar community of Gujarat has no parallel anywhere in India," and that one line was basically centre of whole event . Big statement,because he is comparing their progress with communities across country.
And he did not stop at praise . Shah asked researchers and young scholars to document how Patidar community changed socially and economically,and how that change also shaped Gujarat’s development . That part is interesting because many communities have oral history,but proper academic study is often missing.
