This Tripura chit fund case judgment is honestly one of those stories where you just think about ordinary depositors first . People put money with trust,and then years later court is talking about ₹5-6 crore being misused… not small thing ah .
Special CBI Court has now given six-year rigorous imprisonment to three officials of Pragati Sheel Infra Projects and Services Limited in connection with case . Convicted people are Arindam Das,the company’s CMD,Paritosh Das,the Director,and Dipshikha Chakraborty,the Administrative Director .
And main allegation was misappropriation of ₹5-6 crore collected from public deposits . That means money came from public,and according to court,it was not handled properly. For small investors,this kind of fraud is not just number on paper,it can be life savings only.
Special Judge for the CBI in West Tripura District also imposed ₹3 lakh fine on each convicted official . Company itself has been given ₹7 lakh penalty. So punishment is not just jail term,but financial side also .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:

- Fines will be distributed among aggrieved depositors.
CBI had re-registered case based on notifications from Tripura government,and later took over investigation in 2013 . After collecting evidence,chargesheet was filed against accused in May 2018. So this has not been some quick matter,it has dragged for years .
And tbh,this delay itself says something about how painful financial fraud cases become for victims . People lose money first,then wait years for investigation,court process,and recovery. Even after conviction,getting money back is another struggle.
Court has directed that fines collected from convicted individuals should be sent to proper authorities for proportional distribution among those who lost investments . It has also said efforts should be made to recover defrauded amount from attached assets of accused.
But question still stays uncomfortable . Even with sentence,fine and recovery directions,how much will depositors actually get back,and how long will they have to wait now…
