Honestly, whole thing sounds tense from start only.
Kalyan Banerjee,a Member of Parliament from Trinamool Congress, was part of demonstration against recent arrest and detention of Trinamool party workers . He and supporters had gone outside police station to submit memorandum, but situation reportedly started heating up badly.
During protest,Banerjee claimed he was hit by stone and was later seen collapsing on road with head injury . He said this was not random clash, but politically motivated attack.
And tbh, this is where political blame game became even sharper .
Banerjee directly accused workers linked to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and made very serious statement: “Shuvendu Adhikari is a murderous Chief Minister. He wants to kill (us) by any means.” That is not small allegation ah,especially when protest itself had already turned violent.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Kalyan Banerjee suffered head injury during protest against police actions.
- The BJP denied allegations that it orchestrated attack on Banerjee.
- This came after hostile reception faced by Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Sonarpur previous day.
According to Banerjee, black flags were raised against him and slogans were shouted during protest . He also claimed stones were thrown from distance, and one of them hit him on head. BJP,on other side, denied role and said public anger was reaction to Trinamool Congress's governance.
But Banerjee did not stop at BJP only. He also accused police of being complicit in violence and said inspector in charge had intentionally attacked him . He urged public to remain alert and protest against what he described as tyranny of BJP,saying safety and freedom of people of Bengal were at stake.
And honestly, this is what makes situation more worrying. One side says opposition-backed violence, other side says public anger against ruling party. In between, leaders are getting attacked, workers are being arrested, and normal political protest is becoming dangerous space .
Previous day,Abhishek Banerjee also faced hostile reception in Sonarpur, where public outrage led to objects being thrown at him . So this does not feel like one isolated flashpoint anymore… it feels like tension is sitting there, waiting for next trigger .
