One very tense situation is still going on in Rajouri,Jammu and Kashmir where Operation Sheruwali has now entered its sixth day . And honestly, when any anti-terror operation keeps stretching like this,it usually means forces are dealing with difficult terrain and very cautious movement.
Joint forces have now intensified efforts inside Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan forests, where terrorists are believed to be hiding . As per intelligence inputs, three Pakistani terrorists are suspected to be present there, including Hamza and Iliyas Fauzi .
And this is not small thing ah. Reports say these terrorists are currently cornered within area, but forest zones can make even small escape routes dangerous and hard to fully block.
On Thursday, security forces launched fresh assault involving Army,Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) . Operation was also reviewed by Lt General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, who pushed for focused approach to tighten cordon around terrorists.
Ground reports are saying medium artillery and aerial support have been used, and suspected terrorist hideouts have seen visible damage . Smoke was also seen rising from targeted locations, which shows action has moved into much more aggressive phase now .
Few things standing out clearly in Operation Sheruwali:
- Helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs are being used for searches in surrounding areas .
- Blood trails are being followed by security forces as possible leads from fleeing terrorists.
- Additional security personnel have been deployed to make cordon stronger.
Since beginning of operation, security forces have faced sporadic exchanges of fire with terrorists . Initial encounter happened on Saturday after planned cordon and search operation based on actionable intelligence.
And tbh, this kind of operation is always more complicated than it looks from outside. Forces are trying to ensure no escape routes are left open, while at same time keeping civilian safety in mind.
Vehicle checks have also been intensified on roads leading to operational zone . Authorities are clearly trying to seal movement around area and prevent any support or escape attempt from slipping through.
But even with all this pressure, forest operations can turn unpredictable very fast . For now,Operation Sheruwali is still continuing, and question is how long these cornered terrorists can keep hiding inside Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan forests…
