Siddaramaiah resigning as Chief Minister of Karnataka has suddenly turned into full political firing match . And honestly, this is not just one resignation story now,it has become Congress vs BJP drama from all sides.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) quickly jumped on issue, with BJP Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya attacking Siddaramaiah directly . His line was sharp: "Siddaramaiah was doing bad politics. He wants to finish the Congress in Karnataka."
That statement clearly shows BJP is trying to use this leadership change as proof that Congress is struggling internally . In politics, timing matters and BJP is seeing opening here before upcoming elections.
But Congress also did not stay quiet . Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel hit back saying,"No member of Congress will question the decision of High Command. The BJP’s only job is to spread hatred and lies."
And tbh, this is where whole issue becomes bigger than one leader leaving chair . It is about message going out to voters, party workers and rivals at same time.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Siddaramaiah’s resignation is major leadership change in Karnataka politics.
- BJP is calling it sign of Congress trouble and trying to gain political advantage.
- Congress leaders are saying party is united and still focused on governance.
This resignation also ends weeks of speculation around Siddaramaiah’s role . He has been prominent face in Karnataka politics for long time, known for mass appeal and governance style . So his exit from Chief Minister’s office naturally starts question of who fills that space now .
During press conference after his resignation,Siddaramaiah said he was following Congress High Command’s directives . That makes Congress side present this as strategic decision, not personal failure . Still, public will see it in many different ways only.
He also joins select group of Karnataka leaders who have held Chief Minister post multiple times,so his political legacy is not small thing ah . But legacy and current power are two very different things in politics.
Now Congress has to manage unity inside party while also answering BJP’s attacks from outside . And BJP will keep pushing this narrative if it feels Congress looks unsettled . Question is,whether this resignation becomes just leadership change… or first crack people start talking about more seriously…
