So,some very positive news has just come out about our defence capabilities . Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated DRDO and IAF for the successful flight test of RudraM-II missile, and it feels like genuinely big step .
This happened on June 2,2026 . The missile is Air-to-Surface type, and this test is being called a major milestone for our indigenous defence technology.
And honestly, this is what that whole Aatmanirbharta push is all about . Seeing these complex systems being developed and tested successfully right here in India .
According to Ministry of Defence, the test was done under very difficult or "extreme release conditions" . And even then, the missile was guided to its target with what they are calling "remarkable precision" . All the objectives were met, which was confirmed by data from Integrated Test Range at Chandipur. That kind of accuracy is not small thing ah.
Few points that really stood out for me:
- missile was developed by Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad, showing our own centres are leading this.
- Multiple DRDO labs and industry partners worked together on this,it wasn't just one team's effort .
- This success comes right after DRDO completed trials for the ULPGM-V3 last month only.
So it feels like there is some real momentum building up rn.
But it’s the collaboration part that is very interesting . It’s not just one government body working in silo. Defence Public Sector Undertakings and other industry partners were also involved, and Minister Singh made sure to congratulate them all.
The DRDO Chairman also congratulated the teams for their achievement . When everyone from top leadership is acknowledging work,it must be a great morale booster for the scientists and engineers.
This isn't just about one missile . This success, plus the ULPGM-V3 trials, shows a clear pattern of growth and innovation in our defence sector. It directly helps in making our armed forces more ready for any situation.
And this is how you build true self-reliance in critical military tech . One successful test at a time, with our own people and our own industries .
It really makes you think about what other advanced weapon systems are currently in development pipeline…
