So,big news coming out of Delhi for Karnataka politics . Former CM Siddaramaiah has been appointed to the Congress Working Committee,or CWC. This is the party's highest decision-making body,so not a small thing ah .
The official announcement came from AICC on Tuesday . And the order was issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, with approval from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge himself.
And honestly, this move seems like clear recognition for his role during that whole leadership change drama in Karnataka . They needed to keep him happy and influential at national level.
This is a very strategic move when you think about it . Siddaramaiah is respected figure and knows how to handle complex political situations.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- His appointment acknowledges his role in leadership transition.
- Siddaramaiah turned down Rajya Sabha seat to remain active in party politics .
- CWC membership's impact means he can now help shape national-level strategies.
And this is where it gets interesting . Everyone knows his political skill, especially how he managed to bring together minorities, backward classes, and Dalits with his AHINDA alliance strategy . That formula has been very effective for him in bypassing traditional caste politics .
But you also can't forget his populist schemes like Anna Bhagya for food grains and the Indira Canteens for cheap meals . These things got him massive support from common people and built his legacy.
So putting him in the CWC means Congress is showing it's still committed to these kinds of progressive policies on a bigger stage . He has always been very vocal in his critiques of Hindutva and the BJP's national leadership too .
Political experts are saying this is the party's way of using his experience for bigger national decisions . With a strong state leader now in the top national body, you have to wonder how that changes the internal power balance… especially with elections always around the corner…
