So much political drama happening in Karnataka rn over the new cabinet list. Everyone is guessing names, but Chief Minister-designate D.K . Shivakumar himself came out and said nothing is official yet.
He addressed media late on Tuesday and made it very clear that all these names being reported are just unofficial rumors . The real list is yet to come.
And he also clarified where the list will come from . Congress high command in Delhi. He said, "We have all come together, shared our opinions, and discussed the matter. The final decision will be made by Delhi high command, and they will send the list." So,it's top-down decision as usual .
Once he receives that official list on Wednesday morning, his job is to just forward it to Raj Bhavan . He was very specific,"After getting the list from the high command,I will send it to Raj Bhavan . I will share only these details now."
Few things to know from his press meet:
- Cabinet list is being finalized by Delhi high command and expected by noon.
- The groundbreaking ceremony for new Congress Bhavan has been postponed .
- big discussion is happening on Deputy Chief Minister position, with a Dalit community leader being considered.
But it's not all high-level politics. Shivakumar also said he would meet with the party workers and office-bearers who were invited for that postponed groundbreaking ceremony . At least he is trying to keep the party members in loop, which is good .
And tbh, this is where the situation gets really interesting: the Deputy Chief Minister role.
Shivakumar didn't say if a name has been finalized, but inside sources are suggesting that a prominent leader from Dalit community is the frontrunner for this post . This seems to be a strategic move.
But the twist is that this choice is reportedly being pushed by outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah . And reports also say Shivakumar himself has some "reservations" about it.
This just shows the power dynamics at play between the two top leaders in Karnataka . It's not just about picking a cabinet,it's about balancing influence and party strategy.
So while the official list is awaited, the real story seems to be this behind-the-scenes negotiation… who gets which post, and whose candidate becomes Deputy CM...
