Wow,some major political drama is unfolding inside Trinamool Congress right now . Suspended leader Riju Dutta has made a huge claim that nearly 50 MLAs are ready to split from party.
And this is not just some small protest ah. He's saying they want to form a whole new faction called 'Asli Trinamool Congress' . This whole situation seems to be exploding after TMC recently expelled Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha for alleged anti-party activities.
According to Dutta, these unhappy MLAs have already started talking to each other, either on phone or in person,to plan their next move . He is directly comparing it to big Shiv Sena split that happened in Maharashtra back in 2022. That's a very serious parallel to draw.
He even said that these disgruntled leaders are planning to make Ritabrata Banerjee Leader of Opposition in their new party setup . So plans are already being made it seems.
And tbh, this is where things get really messy .
Dutta says the main frustration is with current leadership, especially with Abhishek Banerjee and influence of I-PAC . Many members feel like their authority has been completely undermined and they have no real decision-making power left .
Few key points coming out from this whole thing:
- Around 50 MLAs are reportedly considering a defection from TMC.
- Big dissatisfaction with Abhishek Banerjee and I-PAC's control is main reason.
- Dutta is drawing comparisons to Shiv Sena's big division.
Dutta also sounds very confident that the anti-defection law might not even work here . He said, "A mass departure of this scale could challenge the legal frameworks in place." This shows they are thinking about all the angles .
But at same time,Dutta also said that after the expulsions,he got lot of calls from senior TMC leaders who were begging for party unity . So clearly there is a sense of panic inside the party to stop this from becoming bigger crisis .
With all this internal conflict going on,the future of TMC looks very uncertain . It feels like a storm is building up,and nobody knows if party can hold itself together… or if we are about to see another major political split in India.
