This NEET-UG 2026 matter is getting more serious now,and during recent Supreme Court hearing, one line really caught everyone’s attention . Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring ongoing controversy,as told in court.
And honestly, when issue reaches this level,it shows how much pressure has built around exam system . This is not small thing ah,students across country plan entire future around one exam and then if controversy keeps coming, trust starts shaking badly.
During hearing,Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing Centre, said government is serious about resolving matter . He stated,“The Hon'ble Prime Minister is personally supervising this,” and that sentence itself became big point from hearing.
But court was not only looking at immediate noise around NEET-UG 2026 . Multiple petitions are asking for major reforms in examination process, and Supreme Court also pushed point that National Testing Agency (NTA) cannot just move ahead without accountability.
Few things stood out clearly in hearing:
- Supreme Court said accountability must be fixed on people managing examination process .
- Court recognised trauma faced by students and families because of repeated exam-related issues.
- Court pushed for structural reforms inside NTA to make system more reliable.
And tbh, this emotional side matters a lot . For many families, exam season is already full of stress, sleepless nights, coaching pressure and financial burden . When system itself becomes doubtful, students are left hanging with anxiety they never asked for .
The justices also compared NTA’s situation with Union Public Service Commission (UPSC),which has managed to conduct examinations without facing major controversies . That comparison is uncomfortable for NTA because it directly raises question of why one exam body is struggling so much.
Supreme Court has now directed Ministry of Human Resource Development to file detailed affidavit explaining steps to strengthen NTA’s capacity . This includes working with academic institutions and experts for better exam management and security protocols.
Follow-up hearing is scheduled for July, and till then students, parents and coaching circles will keep watching every update closely . Because at end, question is still same only… can exam system become trustworthy again before another batch gets dragged into same stress?
