Just saw news about this horrible bus accident in Surat,Gujarat and my heart just sank . So many lives lost in just one moment .
The incident happened on June 2 and reports say at least seven people have died and around 15 are injured . It's just awful.
Apparently it was chain reaction kind of thing near Uva-Manekpor village in Bardoli taluka . A Maharashtra ST bus going from Dhule to Surat first hit a tractor. After that impact,it crossed central divider and then collided head-on with another bus coming from opposite direction.
And things got even worse from there. Witnesses said one of the buses overturned multiple times and then caught fire . Just thinking about passengers being trapped inside is nightmare.
PM Narendra Modi also reacted to news . He said on social media that he was "deeply pained" by the accident and offered his sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones. He also said that rescue operations were happening and authorities were providing all possible support .
And as part of this,he announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh to next of kin of each person who died,and ₹50,000 for each injured person from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF). It’s a help,but nothing can replace life ah .

Every time I read about these highway accidents,it feels same . You just feel so helpless. It's always a question of what went wrong… was it speed,was it mistake,was it bad luck… we never really know for sure…
