Just read one story from Vaishali that is honestly, blowing my mind . A court case that started in 1992 finally got its verdict now, after 34 long years. Thirty-four years ah,can you even imagine.
This verdict was given on Tuesday by Additional District and Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar Tiwari at Vaishali Civil Court complex . But the sentencing itself has some very different outcomes for the accused.
And here's where it gets interesting . The main accused,a man named Deepa Rai who is now 85 years old,got a much lighter sentence. court gave him only three years of imprisonment, looking at his old age and poor health. He was even given provisional bail to appeal in higher court.
But for the other four convicts,it was a completely different story. They were all sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and also have to pay fine of ₹25,000 each . They were taken to jail immediately .
And tbh,the original incident itself was very serious. The case goes all way back to 1992,when an armed attack happened in Jurawanpur police station area .
The victim Adalat Rai and his wife were targeted, and reports say firearms were used in attack . After the incident,Adalat Rai filed formal FIR naming nine people. Nine.
Few things standing out in this whole saga:
- Case origin 1992—incident involved armed attack in Raghopur .
- Nine original accused—four individuals died during the lengthy trial .
- Rigorous imprisonment—four convicts sent to jail immediately after sentencing.
The craziest part for me is that the trial went on for so long that four of the nine original accused actually passed away before they could even face justice . A whole generation has gone by. For the families involved, this May 26 verdict is end of a legal battle that lasted longer than many people's careers .
It's just hard to process . Justice delivered after 34 years feels like something else entirely. It’s not same thing.
So much has changed since 1992 . The world is different, the people are different . And you wonder what this verdict even means to everyone now… is it closure or just a reminder of how slow things can be…
