So much political drama happening in Tamil Nadu rn,and Vaiko’s MDMK is right in middle of it . Looks like there is some serious internal pressure to leave the DMK alliance and maybe support the new TVK government.
And this is all happening right after the Assembly elections . MDMK fought with the DMK-led alliance and even won two seats . They were given four constituencies, including Sirkazhi and Kadayanallur, and their candidates Senthil Selvan and Rajendran won from there . So on one hand they got success with DMK .
But now with C . Joseph Vijay's TVK forming government, the whole situation has changed . Suddenly, many MDMK leaders are thinking a change in strategy is needed. They want to reevaluate their position .
The speculation really took off when Durai Vaiko, who is MDMK Principal Secretary and MP from Tiruchirappalli, welcomed Chief Minister Vijay during a visit to Tiruchi East Assembly constituency . That was a big signal ah.
And after that meeting only,Durai Vaiko gave very telling statement . He said,"Unfortunately,we contested on the DMK symbol. We are a separate movement. Since we were contesting on the Rising Sun symbol, we could not support TVK,”. This one quote has sparked so many discussions.
Few things are very clear in this whole situation:
- Several MDMK leaders are now openly pushing to support TVK government.
- The party has a big General Council meeting scheduled for June 27 to decide future strategy .
- Durai Vaiko's comments and actions have basically confirmed that shift is being considered.
Honestly, this is where politics gets so complicated. You fight an election with one side, win seats on their symbol, and then immediately start thinking about switching to winning side .
Now everyone is watching for the MDMK General Council meeting on June 27 in Chennai . This is where the big decision will likely be discussed, whether to officially detach from the DMK alliance and support TVK .
Such a move would completely shake up political dynamics in the state . It would be big blow for DMK alliance and big win for the new TVK government .
It makes you wonder if this is a genuine shift in ideology or just a practical move to be with the ruling party . Politics is always about opportunities… but what does this mean for their voters who chose them as part of DMK alliance…
