Finally some good news coming from Madhya Pradesh government for women's safety ah . They are launching this new bus service,Chief Minister Sugam Bus Service,right around Raksha Bandhan .
This whole initiative is supposed to give women safe and reliable transport options . And tbh,this is huge deal,especially for women in rural and remote areas where public transport is basically non-existent or just very unsafe.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced it on his X account . He said it will be symbolic start during Raksha Bandhan but a full-phased expansion plan is also ready . He also mentioned how public transport had become very bad during previous government and now with better roads,it's right time to bring back good bus services.
And honestly,this is where things get interesting . Acknowledging that the system was broken is first step .
The operations will actually start from Indore in July . The Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited (AICTSL) will be managing the whole thing. Initially they are starting with three types of buses for intercity,city,and even interstate routes .
Few key points about this service:
- Initial rollout will be on high-demand routes starting in Indore.
- big plan is for 2,432 buses across 620 routes to connect whole state .
- Main focus is on women's safety and making sure they can travel with dignity.
And on top of this,government is also bringing 150 electric buses under the PM e-Bus Seva scheme . So it seems like a big push for public transport overall,not just one small thing .
The timing with Raksha Bandhan is a very smart move,it makes the whole thing more memorable for women . The goal is to help women move around freely,to participate in society more,which is always a good thing.
But a good scheme on paper is one thing only . The real test will be in the execution,especially in the villages far from big cities like Indore.
Will these buses really run on time,will they be maintained properly,and most importantly,will they actually feel safe for a woman travelling alone at night… these are real questions.
