Key Takeaways

  • Kerala HC reserves order on Monalisa Bhosle bail plea
  • Controversy erupts over age and interfaith marriage
  • Court notes couple feels safer in Kerala than in MP

This whole case of Monalisa Bhosle and Mohammed Farmaan Khan is just becoming bigger and bigger . What should be a private matter is now this huge national debate with multiple states and courts involved .

The couple is basically trying to get anticipatory bail from Kerala High Court . Because there is a kidnapping case registered against them back in Madhya Pradesh and they are afraid of being arrested .

And honestly, the court's comment is what really stands out. Justice Kauser Edappagath apparently observed that couple was "lucky" to be in Kerala . Even their own lawyer said that Kerala's environment was the only reason his clients were still alive. That is not a small thing ah.

Monalisa Bhosle, who became famous during the 2025 Kumbh Mela, says she is being targeted by fundamentalist groups and the government machinery in her home state . It really feels like intense pressure on them from all sides .

Few things are central to this whole fight:

  • Age dispute is at core — MP government claims the bride was born in 2009 and is a minor.
  • Interfaith marriage legality is under question — Prosecutors argue Hindu customs cannot apply to Muslim groom.
  • Political involvement is also alleged — Case mentions CPI(M) leaders like M.V. Govindan and V. Sivankutty.

But the Madhya Pradesh government is not backing down . Their lawyer,Additional Solicitor General S.V . Raju, argued that the marriage is not legally valid at all . He also claimed they used forged documents for birth certificates, which could bring in child protection laws.

And this is where things get really complex . The Kerala High Court itself noted that the so-called victim,Monalisa, has not filed any complaint against her husband,Farmaan Khan . So who is the actual complainant here.

The whole thing has become so political that now there is a separate private complaint in POCSO court in Thiruvananthapuram . It's trying to get action against several CPI(M) leaders just for allegedly supporting this couple's marriage.

Through all this, the couple is just saying one thing continuously . That Monalisa was an adult when their marriage ceremony happened in 2026.

The High Court is supposed to give its verdict on Wednesday . But this outcome will be about more than just this one couple,it feels like it will set some kind of standard for these inter-state legal fights over personal freedom…
