This Trinamool Congress fight is looking very ugly now, especially because it is not just normal political disagreement . Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar ,a four-time MP from the Trinamool Congress , has now made serious allegations against fellow party member Kalyan Banerjee, and she has gone to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for intervention.
And honestly, when one woman MP says she is facing repeated verbal abuse inside Lok Sabha itself, that is not small thing ah . In her letter to Om Birla,Ghosh Dastidar accused Banerjee of repeated verbal abuse directed at her within Lok Sabha and said this kind of behaviour adds to culture of disrespect towards women in politics.
She is now formally asking permission to file complaint against him . That itself shows matter has crossed internal party level and reached point where she wants disciplinary action through proper channel .
But this did not come out of nowhere only . Just before this,Ghosh Dastidar resigned from all her organizational roles within Trinamool Congress, and that resignation clearly showed her frustration with party's internal situation.
In that resignation, she indirectly targeted Banerjee, who recently replaced her as Chief Whip . Her words were very direct: "There is no point in holding post when indecent behaviour of another uneducated, rude party MP towards a woman MP cannot be stopped."
Few things standing out in this whole matter:
- Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar is seeking permission from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to file complaint against Kalyan Banerjee.
- She has resigned from all her organizational roles within Trinamool Congress after internal tensions .
- Her allegations have again brought focus on disrespect towards women MPs and misogyny in politics.
And tbh, this is where issue becomes bigger than one party fight . If a four-time MP feels senior leadership did not support her enough, then imagine what message it sends to other women trying to survive in political spaces .
There were already signs of her unhappiness earlier too . After West Bengal Assembly elections and leadership changes inside party,Ghosh Dastidar had posted,"Known her since 76, started the journey in 84. Today I am rewarded for four decades of loyalty." That line itself sounded like someone feeling deeply sidelined after long loyalty.
Now with this letter, resignation, and complaint request, everything has become openly messy for Trinamool Congress . Question is whether party will actually deal with this as women’s dignity issue,or quietly push it into another internal dispute file…
