So the England World Cup journey has officially begun ah . The team has landed in Florida to start their preparations and honestly, the pressure is already feeling very real.
And the whole squad, led by captain Harry Kane and head coach Thomas Tuchel, flew from Birmingham Airport to West Palm Beach for this big training camp . This is where they will be setting up their base before the tournament.
The idea is to get used to conditions and build team spirit before the whole thing kicks off on June 11 .
But not everyone is there yet . A few key players like Declan Rice,Noni Madueke,Eberechi Eze,and Bukayo Saka are going to join later because they were busy with their European finals commitments. Hopefully they get enough time to settle in with team.
Few things standing out rn:
- England will face New Zealand and Costa Rica in warm-up matches .
- World Cup opener is against Croatia in Dallas on June 17.
- Main goal is to end that 60-year World Cup title drought.
So before the main event, they have two important friendly games scheduled . First one is against New Zealand on June 6 and then Costa Rica on June 10 . These matches will be first real test to see where the team stands.
And tbh, that first official match against Croatia is a huge one . It will set tone for their whole campaign. After that they have games against Ghana and Panama.
The biggest thing hanging over everyone's head is the history . England's last World Cup win was way back in 1966 . Sixty years is a very, very long time. whole country is desperate to see them break that streak, especially in a tournament co-hosted by USA and Mexico.
This Florida camp is all about strategy and getting the team to click together perfectly . Tuchel has big job on his hands .
Every World Cup feels like this only, full of hope and nervousness at same time . This time feels a bit different, but you never know with football… will this finally be the year…
