Just watched Mirra Andreeva match at French Open and honestly, she is playing on some other level right now . Total domination against an experienced player .
She completely defeated Romania's Sorana Cirstea with score of 6-0,6-3 . And all this happened on the main Court Philippe Chatrier in just 56 minutes . Insane speed.
From start only,Andreeva was in full control . Cirstea is 36,and you could really see the youthful energy of 19-year-old Andreeva overwhelming her.
And that first set was something else . Andreeva gave away only nine points and Cirstea didn't even get single game point . That is just a brutal performance ah.
This kind of age gap dominance reminds people of old matches, like when Martina Navratilova played Jennifer Capriati at Wimbledon way back in 1991 .
Few things standing out from this match:
- Andreeva hit 18 winners while Cirstea had 20 unforced errors.
- Her head-to-head record against Cirstea is now 2-0.
- She now leads the WTA Tour with 34 total match wins this season.
But in second set,Cirstea did fight back for bit . She managed to make score three-all and it looked like a contest was starting . But then Andreeva just flipped a switch and won the next three games without losing a single point.
Now she moves into semifinals for second time in her career . This is a big deal .
And her next match will be a real test . She has to face either Elina Svitolina or Marta Kostyuk . Her record against Svitolina is 1-1,but she has lost to Kostyuk twice already this year.
So even with this amazing form, the next round is not guaranteed at all . It really makes you wonder if this momentum is enough to overcome a tough opponent who has beaten her before…
