So after all that intense discussion, the Karnataka cabinet puzzle is finally moving forward ah . Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar are coming back to Bengaluru to sort out the new Cabinet.
They are taking special flight from New Delhi, expected to land at HAL Airport around 10 PM on June 2 . Cutting it a bit close for the swearing-in ceremony which is set for Wednesday evening at Lok Bhavan .
And inside news is that around 14 Ministers are likely to take oath along with Shivakumar . But Congress is being very tight-lipped about names. No official announcements about final list yet, which is typical.
And honestly, this is where things get complicated.
After a big meeting at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's house, both leaders even posed for pictures with Rahul Gandhi . Just to show everyone that the party is united and moving forward together. We've seen this kind of photo op before though.
Few things are clear about their strategy:
- Cabinet formation strategy is to balance experienced leaders with new entrants.
- Consultations with the party's Central leadership are still ongoing to finalize everything .
- Focus is on regional representation, they are considering caste and political factors too .
The high command is apparently very keen to have a mix of seasoned leaders and some fresh talent . Sources are suggesting that maybe eight to ten first-time Ministers might get included in this new Cabinet. That could really shake things up.
But it seems they are not filling all the posts in one go. There are signs that Congress is thinking about a phased expansion of the Cabinet . So,a small group of Ministers will take oath first, and more appointments could come after Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections.
And tbh, this is a very strategic play. It’s all about strengthening the party's position before the big 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections . Every move right now is being calculated for the long run.
But trying to keep everyone happy is not small thing ah . Balancing old leaders, new faces, different regions, and caste equations… it's a massive task. You have to wonder how long this unity will last before someone feels left out…
