One interesting political move has happened in Tripura BJP on May 28,and honestly,it has surprised quite few people watching state politics . Abhishek Debroy,a first-time MLA,has been made new President of party's state unit.
And this is not small change ah,because he is replacing Rajib Bhattacharjee,a Rajya Sabha member who was holding this position earlier . For many in political circles,this appointment came like unexpected signal from BJP side.
Announcement was made by Arun Singh,the BJP National General Secretary,from party headquarters in New Delhi . So yes,this was not just local adjustment,it clearly came from top level only.
Debroy is 44 and was elected from Matarbari Assembly constituency in 2023 elections . He has also been active in BJP's state committee and before this elevation,he served as President of party's Gomati district unit.

After appointment,Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha posted on X and wrote,“Heartiest congratulations to Shri Abhishek Debroy Ji on being appointed as the President of BJP Tripura Pradesh . Confident that under his dynamic leadership and organisational vision,the party will grow stronger.”
Rajib Bhattacharjee also shared similar congratulations and spoke about growth under Debroy’s guidance . That public support matters,because leadership change can sometimes create quiet uneasiness inside party units .
But for BJP in Tripura,real test starts after announcement photo and congratulation messages are over . Debroy is expected to bring new energy and direction,but state politics is never that simple.
Now question is whether Abhishek Debroy can actually convert this fresh responsibility into stronger ground connect before coming political battles…
