Another day, another huge liquor seizure story coming from Bihar . This time in Buxar, and the amount is pretty big, around ₹20.5 lakh.
And tbh,it just shows how this whole cat-and-mouse game between smugglers and police is always going on there . Despite prohibition, people are finding ways.
So what happened is,on June 2,officials were doing routine vehicle check at Veer Kunwar Singh Check Post . During this, they saw one suspicious DCM truck and decided to stop it for proper examination.
The whole operation was led by Prohibition Inspector Kundan Kumar . And his alertness really paid off here.
At first glance, the truck looked like it was carrying normal jute sacks . But when they used advanced scanning,it showed some irregularities. That's when they decided to check more thoroughly and found crates of foreign liquor hidden underneath everything. Very clever way of hiding it ah.
And this is where things get serious. Two people in truck,Rahul Singh and Sachin Yadav, were arrested right there only.
Few key things from this whole incident:
- Big consignment of foreign liquor seized, valued at ₹20.5 lakh.
- Two people,Rahul Singh and Sachin Yadav, were arrested from the truck.
- Authorities are now investigating larger smuggling network.
During questioning, the arrested men revealed that liquor was brought from Haryana and was supposed to be delivered in Bhagalpur . That's a long route to take with illegal stuff.
Excise Superintendent Ashraf Jamal has confirmed that a case has been registered against them under Bihar's prohibition laws . He said they are also looking into the suppliers and transporters who are part of this bigger chain.
Honestly,it feels like for every one truck they catch, maybe few others get through . The smugglers are using such innovative tactics these days,it's a constant challenge for the authorities.
You have to wonder what the final solution is for this problem… because just seizing trucks seems like a temporary fix when demand is still there…
