Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has now said government is drafting detailed roadmap to create 200,000 government jobs in near future.
He posted about this on X and used very direct line: "There’s no time to rest in our quest to deliver on our promises," . That line itself shows government wants to project urgency after electoral victory, but people will naturally ask how fast this actually moves on ground .
According to Sarma, administration has already started identifying vacancies across different departments . Plan is not just random hiring announcement, but systematic recruitment process around posts expected to open over next five years .
And name given to this push is "Mission 2 Lakh Govt Jobs – Plan in Motion," which sounds ambitious, not small thing ah . Mapping future job openings for five years means state is trying to show there is some structure behind promise.
Few things standing out in this announcement:
- Government is assessing posts and opportunities across departments.
- Merit-based appointments are being projected as priority for fairness.
- BJP is trying to reinforce its promise on employment generation.
The roadmap also talks about checking sanctioned posts and opportunities in autonomous institutions,semi-government bodies, and different missions . So this is not limited to one or two departments only.
Political observers are seeing this as move to address youth employment pressure in Assam . And tbh, that pressure is very real because government job demand in states like Assam is always huge, especially when private options are limited for many families .
Since taking office in 2021,the Sarma-led government has pushed recruitment drives in police, education, health, and administrative services . Chief Minister has also said earlier that recruitment process in Assam will be transparent, with merit as main criterion for appointments.
This latest announcement has come after BJP's strong mandate in recent Assembly elections,so political messaging is also clearly there . Promise is big, number is big,and expectation among youth is even bigger .
But now real question is simple only… when these 200,000 government jobs move from roadmap and posts on X to actual appointment letters in hands of people…
