This Asaram case again came back in news in very heavy way,after he surrendered to authorities at Jodhpur Central Jail on May 28, 2026 . And honestly,when case goes on for so many years and still keeps returning like this,it shows how deep impact of such crimes can be.
Rajasthan High Court upheld his life sentence in minor rape case dating back to 2013 . Court also rejected his appeal against conviction and cancelled interim bail which had been given earlier . So basically,after this order,there was no room left for him to stay out .
Before surrendering,Asaram was spotted in Haridwar and then came back to Jodhpur . At Jodhpur airport,he was met by large crowd of supporters . He waved at them and gave blessings from his vehicle,while police were already there in strong numbers to control situation.
And tbh,this part feels uncomfortable also . A man whose life sentence has just been upheld in such serious case still getting public show of support at airport is not small thing ah.
After airport,he went to his ashram in Pal village . Later,he was taken for medical examination at AIIMS Jodhpur and then surrendered before jail authorities around 5 p.m. .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:

- Hostel warden Shilpi and Gurukul director Sharat Chandra were acquitted due to lack of evidence .
- Court ordered immediate surrender after rejecting appeal and cancelling interim bail.
The bench of Justice Arun Monga and Justice Yogendra Kumar Purohit also spoke about victim’s suffering in strong words . They said Asaram’s imprisonment may have physical boundaries,but mental anguish of victim cannot really be measured . That line itself says lot.
Asaram was convicted in April 2018 over allegations of sexual assault against minor student at his ashram in Jodhpur,where crime reportedly happened in secluded hut . This case has always been bigger than one courtroom update only,because it keeps raising same painful question about power,faith,sexual violence and accountability in India.
But even after conviction,appeals,bail,surrender and crowds of followers outside,one thing still feels stuck in mind… how long does justice really take before victim’s pain is even properly seen?
