So WMO has issued another warning about El Nino coming back on June 2,2026 . And honestly,it feels like we just got over the last one . The whole thing is about to mess with global temperature and rainfall patterns again.
This phenomenon is all because of unusually warm ocean waters in the tropical Pacific . And it basically means we should get ready for more extreme weather over next few months.
WMO Secretary-General Celeste Saulo made it very clear that we need preparedness . She talked about how these conditions will likely make droughts and heavy rainfall worse,plus risk of heatwaves both on land and in ocean .
And if you remember,the last El Nino in 2023-2024 was one of the five strongest in history . It was a big reason for those record global temperatures we experienced.
This is not small thing ah .
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also said in a video statement that these El Nino conditions will just make the challenges of a warming world even bigger . He said only effective response to this crisis is decisive climate action.

But WMO is also tracking things closely . There is one recent report,Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update 2026-2035,that they made with Britain's Met Office . It forecasts that high global average temperatures will continue,and Arctic areas will see temperature changes even greater than the global mean.
It's just a constant cycle of warnings and reports from so many agencies . Everyone is saying same thing again and again,but you have to wonder what is actually changing on the ground…
