One very emotional turn has come in Twisha Sharma dowry death case, and honestly, this one feels bigger than just one bail order . Her father,Navnidhi Sharma, thanked media, public and Chief Justice Surya Kant on May 28, 2026 after Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled anticipatory bail of Giribala Singh,Twisha's mother-in-law and former judge.
And his words were very direct. Sharma stated,"First of all, I would like to thank my media friends and all Indians who have supported us in this fight for justice. I would also like to thank the Chief Justice of India. All of them have taken the necessary steps and set example that no one is above law."
That line,no one is above law, will hit many people in this case . Because when accused person is former judge, public naturally starts wondering whether system will move normally or become soft.
High Court decision came on May 27,and for Twisha's family, this seems like one major moment after weeks of pain and questions . Sharma also said,"Dowry death is a matter of great concern nowadays. We will have to come out of this." And tbh,he is not wrong ah .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled anticipatory bail of Giribala Singh on May 27.
- Central Bureau of Investigation has detained Giribala Singh in connection with Twisha Sharma's case.
- Court said WhatsApp messages and statements from Twisha's family pointed to issues needing deeper investigation .
Twisha Sharma was found dead at her matrimonial home on May 12,around five months after her marriage to Singh's son,Samarth Singh . After her death,Giribala Singh had asked for anticipatory bail, and it was first granted considering her age and financial transactions.
But High Court later overturned that order, saying important material was not properly examined . This included WhatsApp messages and statements from Twisha's family, which according to court suggested possible wider responsibility beyond just husband.
And this is where case becomes even more disturbing . Twisha's family has accused both Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh of harassment, especially connected to Twisha's pregnancy termination . Post-mortem report also indicated multiple injuries on Twisha's body, which raises more uncomfortable questions about what really happened before her death .
Court also said allegations needed closer investigation under different legal provisions, including Dowry Prohibition Act . For many families watching this case,it may feel like rare moment where pressure from family, public and media actually pushed system to look again.
But at same time, one order cannot answer everything . Twisha is gone, her family is still fighting, and bigger question around dowry deaths in India is still standing there… what changes after this,if anything?
