Key Takeaways

  • Piyush Goyal challenges Rahul Gandhi's EdTech claims
  • Debate over CBSE exam discrepancies intensifies
  • Political tensions rise over education reforms

On May 28, 2026 ,Union Minister Piyush Goyal took to social media and directly challenged Rahul Gandhi , the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, over his criticism of education technology firm Coempt Edu Tech .

But Goyal’s main point was simple and quite sharp . He said same company Rahul Gandhi called controversial had already received multiple projects from institutions under Congress governments in Telangana and Karnataka. So basically, his argument was,why attack company now if Congress-run institutions also worked with it?

Goyal stated that Karnataka's Bengaluru City University had signed contract with Coempt Edu Tech in November 2025,while Telangana’s Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences entered into agreement in September 2024 . He also pointed to similar contracts by other educational institutions in Karnataka.

And tbh, this is where whole thing becomes uncomfortable for opposition also . If same firm was acceptable under Congress governments, then sudden outrage needs more explanation. At same time, questions about education systems and exam integrity cannot just be brushed aside as politics only.

This fight also came after wider debate over irregularities in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination process . Student Vedant Shrivastava had raised concerns about discrepancies in his results, claiming answer sheet given to him did not match his handwriting . That allegation sparked serious scrutiny and accusations of mass tampering in evaluation process .

Few things standing out clearly here:

  • Coempt Edu Tech had contracts with Congress-run institutions .
  • Vedant Shrivastava raised concerns over exam evaluation integrity.
  • Piyush Goyal questioned Rahul Gandhi's selective outrage .

Goyal defended CBSE and said,“Rahul Gandhi suffers from chronic political amnesia. He has done it again … chosen propaganda over facts, theatrics over truth!” Strong words, obviously . And political temperature around education accountability is getting higher because both sides are now trying to own narrative.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also entered discussion and said CBSE had issued clarifications about evaluation process, and any negligence would be addressed . He also criticised Gandhi for opposing government reforms and accused him of being disconnected from India's progress in education technology.

But bigger question is still hanging there . If there were real issues in evaluation, students deserve answers. And if political parties are using same issue for point-scoring,then education system again becomes battlefield… while students wait in middle .
