This New Rajender Nagar case from central Delhi feels really disturbing, mainly because two elderly women were found dead inside their own locked home on May 28 . And honestly, that detail of foul smell coming from house makes whole thing even more unsettling .
Victims have been identified as Chandra Kanta and Saroj Bala , aged around 80 and 78 respectively . Both were reportedly living together for extended period, with locals saying Saroj Bala was unmarried and Chandra Kanta was her sister-in-law.
What first triggered alarm was domestic help . The maid noticed foul smell coming from locked residence, and also saw that all doors were secured from inside . That is when she got worried, alerted neighbors, and police were contacted .
Police officials said they received report around 10:30 a.m. After reaching spot, they found both women unconscious in one room—one on bed and other on floor . “A foul smell was emanating from the premises,” a police spokesperson stated.
And tbh, this is where case becomes confusing only.
House is single-storey structure with four entry points, but initial inspection did not show any forced entry or disturbance . That one detail raises many questions because if doors were locked from inside and nothing looked disturbed, then what exactly happened inside that room?
Few things standing out clearly rn:
- Police are exploring all possible angles related to the deaths.
- Preliminary inquiries have not indicated any immediate foul play .
- The deceased women’s bodies have been sent to RML Hospital for examination.
After discovery,Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team were called in for investigation . Police are also looking at possibilities like health-related issues or accidental deaths because there were no immediate signs pointing clearly in one direction.
An officer said,“While no foul play has been confirmed at this stage,we are examining all possible aspects to determine the cause of death,” and that line says enough about how open this case still is . Nothing confirmed,no clear answer yet.
And honestly, this also brings up uncomfortable thought about elderly people living alone or with very little daily support . In cities like Delhi, neighbors may be nearby, but still someone can be in danger inside home and people may realise only after smell starts coming…
