This Maharashtra toxic liquor case is honestly heartbreaking because 13 people have now lost their lives in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas . One drink turned into medical emergency, then into deaths, and families are now left asking how this even happened.
Incident reportedly started on May 28,2026 when victims began feeling severe symptoms soon after consuming liquor . Vomiting, intense stomach pain and sudden collapse-type panic followed,as families rushed people for treatment.
And this is not small thing ah . Police Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad City,Vinay Chaube confirmed that FIR has been lodged at Dapodi Police Station under Crime No. 114/2026 . Charges include culpable homicide and causing harm through harmful substances, which shows police are treating matter very seriously.
Death toll was first reported as seven, but later rose to 13 as more victims succumbed to effects of liquor . That jump itself tells how dangerous contamination was,and how quickly situation went out of control .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- 13 individuals have died after consuming toxic liquor in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas .
- Five arrested so far in connection with distribution of toxic substance.
- Preliminary reports suggest methanol contamination in liquor .
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed law enforcement to investigate properly and make sure those responsible face justice . He also pushed for strict measures so such incidents do not repeat, but honestly, people will ask why illegal supply network was able to run like this in first place.
Crime Branch has now taken over case, and police are focusing on tracing origin of toxic liquor . Separate case has also been filed against Yogesh Wankhede, who is accused of supplying toxic liquor . Reports say he is major distributor in Pune area .
Family members are describing really painful moments . One family member from Pandhare Mala locality said several people from their community were affected, leading to immediate medical emergencies . Daughter of one victim also expressed shock at her father's sudden demise, while mentioning his regular alcohol consumption and previous health issues.
And at same time, this is where whole thing becomes bigger than one liquor batch only . If methanol-laced liquor was moving through illegal network, then how many people were exposed before police could stop it?
Police operations are still going on to catch more suspects and dismantle illegal liquor network . But for families who lost someone, case numbers, arrests and statements cannot undo what happened that night…
