This Pune hooch tragedy is honestly very disturbing because people have died after consuming illicit liquor,and now police officers themselves are facing action . And when deaths happen because toxic liquor was being sold openly,questions will obviously come on local monitoring also.
And Pune Police administration has suspended three officers from Hadapsar Police Station after this whole incident . Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle,Assistant Police Inspector Hasina Sikalgar,and Police Sub-Inspector Hasan Mulani have been suspended over alleged gross negligence and lack of oversight.
The tragedy has been linked to illegal manufacturing and distribution of toxic country liquor . Reports say this liquor was adulterated with harmful chemicals,but accused still continued selling it despite known risks . That is not small thing ah,people consumed it and multiple fatalities happened.
And this is where public anger makes sense . If such dangerous liquor was being made and distributed,then how did it continue till people started dying? Somewhere system failed badly,or at least that is what many people will feel rn.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:

- Case has been registered under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

But official suspension order goes even further and says negligence of these officers severely tarnished image of police force . That line itself shows department knows damage is not only about one police station,it is about trust .
Under Mumbai Police (Discipline and Appeal) Rules,1956,and Mumbai Police Act,1951,the suspended officers will get subsistence allowance while inquiry is going on . They also have to report daily to Pune City Police Control Room,which clearly shows matter is being treated seriously .
And yes,department is trying to send message that accountability and integrity inside force matter . But at same time,people have already died,and suspending officers after tragedy does not answer one bigger question fully .
How was this toxic liquor network allowed to reach point where lives were lost first…
